One Body

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–The Holy Trinity saw fit for us to exist. We were created in His image and yet through sin have become deformed and unrecognizable. For generations, we have engaged in acts that have only brought pain to ourselves and our families–tears to our Creator.

We were saved through His broken body and blood shed on the cross at Calvary. Yet, thousands of years later, we are still awaiting His second coming. Why? Lack of teamwork.

As Christians, or followers of Christ, we ought to live by His example. Sadly, we have proven ourselves to be disobedient children who have chosen to pave our own paths right into doom, failure, distress, sin, and ultimately death.

If you look throughout the pages of the bible, you will see how teamwork played a vital role in the many stories that are recounted. We read about how Noah and his family built an ark that saved them as God sent a flood on earth. We read about Joseph and his many brothers who survived a great famine. Lastly, we read about Jesus Christ and his 12 disciples. Teamwork–the ministry of God cannot survive without it and yet we all want to be leaders, not followers. Christian denominations are fighting for the top spot instead of saving souls for the eternal kingdom. Baptists? Pentecostals? Catholics? Evangelists? Episcopalians? Adventists? Who cares? If Christ is not at the center of it all, then you’re doomed before you even began.

Everyone wants to be a pastor to lead their own flock, but no one wants to be an elder or worship leader. Everyone wants to be on television, “evangelizing,” but how many of you truly have a relationship with Him? Everyone wants to have a mega church, but lack the ability to engage their brethren as Christ did.

Instead, we are so concerned about our own selfish needs and neglect the needs of our brothers and sisters standing right beside us.

Where have we gone wrong? What have we missed? How could our own selfish desires blind us from what we were called to do? It is time that we unite.

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. [Romans 12:5 KJV]

We must learn to support one another. We cannot stand idly by as those around us struggle with their burdens. Christ always looked for ways to lighten our burdens, lessen our trials and tribulations. Why can’t we do the same for our brethren? Offer words of encouragement and support even if it isn’t asked. We are all one body working towards the same goal–eternal life.
